In 1864, elected official Sir Leonard Tilley from New Brunswick was the Father of Confederation, inspired by Psalm 72 which is a Psalm from the Bible, he suggested the name Dominion of Canada. This expression represented his vision of an independent country. Canada’s Dominion would be strong, prosperous, and free, and that could span an entire continent. This title was included in Canada’s Constitution and was in use for about 100 years.
